In Sicily, with a bit of luck and a sunny day it is possible to have breakfast outside also in February. A lot of bars have tables outside to begin the day in the best way with a warm "cappuccino" coffee, a fresh orange juice or typical sicilian pastries. The top destination is Taormina where you can enjoy your meal with a fantastic view of the sea and of the snow-covered Etna at the same time.

It's probably too cold for swimming but on the other hand the beaches are not too crowded in this period. In the south-east of Sicily you can find long and lonely sand beaches in Noto Marina, Pozzallo or at the windy "Isola delle correnti" . In the area of Palermo, San Vito Lo Capo or Mondello are classic destinations. Also very suggestive is a visit to the Scala dei Turchi cliffs near Agrigento. Don't forget a jacket because it might be windy near the sea.
An other option is a nice boat trip. You'll find plenty of choices in Sicilian harbours. A boat trip on the Ciane river, near Syracuse is very romantic and arrives to the typical papyrus plants of this area. A local cruise around the Aeolian islands is always a fantastic experience. The view of the Stromboli volcano at sunset is impressive.

Walkin through the historical centres of Sicilian towns you can find a lot of little, typical and quiet restaurants for your Valentine's lunch. The little streets and the promenade of Ortygia, the historical centre of Syracuse, placed on a little island, are enchanting. Just try to have a walk through the narrow streets and certainly in some unexpected corner you will find the right place for you. The medieval quarter of Erice, near Trapani, in west Sicily, is an other good choice. Taormina is the right destination for lovers of panoramic views. Naturally fish and seafood are highlights in every Sicilian restaurant.

It's incredible but in Sicily spring is already beginning in February and the countryside is full of coloured flowers The white almond tree blossoms fill the panorama. Can you think of something better than a relaxing walk in the Sicilian countryside with your loved one ? The Ragusa area, for example, with it's dry stone walls, is the ideal destination to discover the classic Sicilian countryside. The Agrigento area and the valley of the temples are also famous for the beautiful view offered by the old ruins and the many almond trees. If you like breathtaking panoramas you should choose Taormina or Castelmola. For those who like romantic sunsets, the best destinations are Trapani and Marsala. It is unforgettable to see the sun disappear in the sea behind the scenario of the old wind mills.

The best way to end the Valentine's day is surely a romantic dinner with good wine. Palermo offers a lot of good restaurants with a furnished wine cellar. If you are looking for classical music, opera or ballet, have a look at the program of the many Sicilian theaters. There are events for all tastes. In Palermo the most important theaters are the teatro Massimo, the Biondo and the Politeama. In Catania are the teatro Bellini, the Verga and the Metropolitan.
